Reclining Youth — Storia e analisi

Van den Eeckhout fu allievo di Rembrandt dal 1635 al 1641. Continuò a disegnare nello stile del suo maestro per molto tempo. Realizzò anche un affascinante gruppo di studi di figure a pennello e acquerello, il migliore dei quali è questo giovane rappresentato in modo libero.

Tali studi disegnati liberamente erano senza dubbio il tipo di lavoro che preferiva realizzare, poiché all'epoca gli artisti paragonavano il lavoro per i pubblicatori a una schiavitù.
