The Presentation in the Temple — Storia e analisi
Intorno al 1654, Rembrandt rappresentò quattro eventi nella vita di Cristo nello stesso formato, prestando particolare attenzione alla luce. In questa prima stampa della serie, l'anziano Simeone è mostrato mentre tiene in braccio il neonato Gesù nel Tempio. Si rende conto che l'infante è il Salvatore tanto atteso.
Rembrandt ha lasciato uno strato sottile di inchiostro sulla stampa (tono di superficie), facendo sì che la scena emergesse da una misteriosa semi-oscurità.
