これはハーグのビネンホフにある騎士の間（Ridderzaal）です。天井からは戦争中に捕獲された南ネーデルランドとスペインの旗が吊るされています。オランダ共和国の7つの州の代表者たちがホールに集まっています。1650年末にフリードリッヒ・ヘンリーの息子ウィリアム2世が亡くなると、ほとんどの州は長い審議の末、1651年8月21日に新しいスタッドホルダーを任命しないことを決定します。戦争は終わり、彼らが一致しているように、国はオランダ家なしで未来に立ち向かうことができるのです。
