O Grave, where is thy Victory? — Historia y Análisis
El título de este dibujo se toma de una carta del apóstol Pablo sobre la victoria de la fe sobre la muerte. Aquí, la muerte aparece como el liberador del sufrimiento terrenal. Yaciendo cerca de una tumba abierta está el cuerpo de un hombre entrelazado con ramas espinosas, símbolo de la dolorosa existencia terrenal del hombre.
Dos serafines (ángeles) flotan sobre la tumba y liberan al muerto de estas ramas.
