Portrait Medallion of Cornelis de Graeff — Historia y Análisis
El burgomaestre Cornelis de Graeff fue una de las fuerzas impulsoras detrás de la construcción del nuevo ayuntamiento de Ámsterdam. En esta representación, Quellinus lo retrató de perfil, al igual que a su esposa, Catharina Hooft. Esta forma pictórica recuerda a la de las monedas romanas.
La asociación con los romanos se refuerza mediante el uso de mármol y una inscripción en latín, en la que De Graeff es referido como 'cónsul'.
