Still Life with Peacocks — Histoire et analyse
À l'époque de Rembrandt, les paons étaient consommés par les riches : la viande était incorporée dans des tourtes, entre autres plats. Immédiatement après leur abattage, les oiseaux étaient suspendus pour saigner, comme Rembrandt nous le montre dans cette salle de stockage. Il était sans doute captivé par les marques splendides de leur plumage, ce déluge de couleurs : bleu, vert et ocre jaune.
