The Descent from the Cross — Histoire et analyse
C'est une interprétation totalement différente de la Descente de la Croix. La plupart des figures ne sont guère plus que des contours. Avec Rembrandt, la ligne de démarcation entre le légèrement gravé et l'inachevé n'est pas toujours claire, mais cette estampe semble appartenir à la seconde catégorie.
Il aurait lui-même dit qu'une œuvre d'art est terminée lorsque le maître a réalisé ses intentions. Bien noté !
