Questa è un'interpretazione completamente diversa della Deposizione dalla Croce. La maggior parte delle figure è poco più che contorni. Con Rembrandt, la linea di demarcazione tra un'incisione leggermente tracciata e un'opera incompiuta non è sempre chiara, ma questa stampa sembra rientrare nella seconda categoria.
Si dice che lui stesso abbia affermato che un'opera d'arte è finita quando il maestro ha realizzato le sue intenzioni. Preso atto!
