Cette petite gravure représente un orfèvre martelant dans son atelier, avec ses outils à gauche, une enclume à droite et un petit feu dans la forge derrière lui. Son bras est tendrement enroulé autour d'une statuette dont il devra bientôt se séparer. La mère, symbolisant la Charité, tient ses deux enfants avec tout autant d'amour.
