Cristo viene deposto in una tomba mentre i presenti in lutto osservano. Le aree d'ombra nella scena consistono in potenti linee parallele. La fonte di luce è nascosta dietro l'uomo che ci volta le spalle.
Appena si può discernere qualche tratteggio in quel punto illuminato. La carta giapponese gialla intensa conferisce alla scena un caldo bagliore, che si accorda bene con la luce di lampade o torce.
