Maria e Guilherme eram meras crianças quando se casaram: ela tinha nove anos, ele quatorze. De forma bastante incomum, ela está à esquerda devido ao seu status mais elevado – Maria era filha de um rei, Guilherme, filho de um stadholder e príncipe. O anel de casamento de Maria destaca o vínculo entre a Holanda e a Inglaterra, que foi cimentado com este casamento.
Ela também usa um broche de diamante, outro presente de Guilherme.
