Model of the Vlakkenhoek lighthouse on Sumatra — História e Análise

A versão em tamanho real, com 60 metros de altura, deste farol foi erguida em Vlakkenhoek, no ponto sudoeste de Sumatra. A torre foi construída em Haia pela Enthoven & Co., e depois enviada para Sumatra. A resistência da estrutura de ferro fundido foi comprovada durante a erupção vulcânica de Krakatoa em 1883; apenas o farol resistiu ao tsunami que devastou tudo o mais.
