About the artist taken from the website of the municipality of Norrtälje in November 2008: Tycho Ödberg (1865 - 1943) grew up and lived in Stockholm. He received his education partly in Paris, partly at the Stockholm Academy. He painted city motifs from the capital and landscapes from the West Coast.

Alongside the painting, he was a very diligent illustrator and co-worker in various publications such as Kasper, Nyna Nisse and Idun, among others. under the signature Tyx. Among the drawings we own from Ödberg’s hand, the series about Rivalerna is the oldest in the museum’s collection.

It was published as early as 1887 in Kasper. As a series maker, Tycho Ödberg is probably one of the first in Sweden. Comics with through figures did not come in the USA until 1895 and here in Sweden only a few years later.
