No entanto, ao contrário dos pintores românticos, Weissenbruch não alterou a realidade para se adequar à sua imaginação, mas deu uma representação topograficamente precisa. O Canal Trekvliet ligava Haia às aldeias vizinhas de Rijswijk e Voorburg.
Ao fundo, à esquerda, está a torre do Castelo de De Binckhorst, e o moinho de vento chamado Laakmolen à direita.
