View of The Hague — História e Análise
No século XIX, Rembrandt tornou-se o herói nacional dos Países Baixos. Em Amsterdão, foi erguida uma estátua em sua honra. Para a sua cerimônia de inauguração, o Parkzaal (uma sala de concertos) foi decorado com enormes pinturas de cidades onde se pensava que ele havia trabalhado.
Este é o esboço para a tela Rembrandt em Haia. Ao longe, vê-se a silhueta da cidade com a torre da igreja da Grote ou Sint-Jacobskerk. Apenas mais tarde surgiu que Rembrandt nunca havia realmente trabalhado em Haia.
