Portrait of Michiel de Ruyter — Histoire et analyse
Rombout Verhulst a modelé ce portrait en argile alors qu'il concevait le grand monument funéraire de Michiel de Ruyter pour la Nieuwe Kerk à Amsterdam. Le sculpteur a étudié en profondeur les portraits peints de l'amiral pour cette commande. Verhulst a conservé ce modello en sa possession jusqu'à sa mort.
