Esta pequeña impresión muestra la habilidad de Van Gogh en otro proceso de grabado. El Dr. Gachet en Auvers, a quien Van Gogh había estado viendo después de mudarse del sur de Francia, tenía una prensa de grabado.
Esto llevó a Van Gogh a intentar esta difícil técnica. Resultó ser un maravilloso retrato del médico, pero desafortunadamente, es la única grabado que hizo.
