Una característica de muchos de los hombres y mujeres en la obra de Dusart es su fealdad. Aquí el artista ha sido un poco más amable: este joven puede no ser un Adonis, pero sus extremidades y su cuerpo están en el lugar correcto, y tiene un rostro amigable. Su ropa es simple, pero no hay parches ni bordes deshilachados.
Y aunque puede que no sea rico, no es un tonto: sabe leer.
