Les scènes gravées et en relief sur l'ewer et le bassin illustrent les victoires des Néerlandais dans leur bataille contre l'Espagne. Le premier succès, le soulagement d'Alkmaar, date de 1573, et le dernier est la bataille navale de Gibraltar en 1607. La pièce maîtresse éblouissante du bassin est le triomphe du prince Maurice à la bataille de Nieuwpoort en 1600.
