Ici est représentée une histoire des Métamorphoses (Transformations) du poète romain Ovide. Jupiter, le roi des dieux et un adultère incorrigible, essaie de tromper sa femme Junon en transformant sa maîtresse Io en une belle vache blanche. Io, sous l'apparence d'une vache, est allongée à gauche, tandis qu'en haut dans le ciel, Junon s'approche dans son char tiré par des paons.
