Portrait of Roelof Meulenaer — Histoire et analyse

Roelof Meulenaer, un maître de poste d'Amsterdam, a commandé des portraits de lui-même et de sa femme à Ferdinand Bol, l'élève de Rembrandt, vers 1650. À cette époque, Bol développait son propre style plus élégant, basé sur le travail de l'artiste flamand Anthony van Dyck, tout en continuant à profiter de la palette chaleureuse de Rembrandt. Le portrait de Meulenaer, ainsi, unit le meilleur de ces deux modèles exemplaires.
