Marie Fargues, the Painter’s Wife — Storia e analisi
Liotard aveva già 54 anni quando sposò la 29enne Marie Fargues ad Amsterdam nel 1756. Questo straordinario ritratto – è uno dei pastelli più grandi di Liotard e ha richiesto l'uso di due pezzi di pergamena – è stato probabilmente realizzato poco dopo il loro matrimonio. Liotard scelse una composizione che aveva già utilizzato in un disegno fatto a Costantinopoli e che aveva ripetuto più volte in contesti diversi: era, infatti, una delle invenzioni più famose della sua persona come 'Le peintre turc'.
