Na primeira versão da Paisagem com uma Cascata, Segers adicionou sombras com hachuras (Kupferstichkabinett, Berlim 963-13, RP-P-H-OB-825, RP-P-OB-826). Aqui, na segunda versão, as passagens escuras são o resultado de uma gravação direta: partes da placa foram expostas ao ácido de gravação, enquanto as passagens claras foram cobertas com verniz de proteção.
