Reclining Youth — História e Análise

Van den Eeckhout foi aluno de Rembrandt de 1635 a 1641. Ele continuou a desenhar no estilo de seu mestre por muito tempo. Também fez um fascinante grupo de estudos de figuras em pincel e aguada, o melhor dos quais é este jovem retratado de forma solta.

Esses estudos desenhados livremente eram, sem dúvida, o tipo de trabalho que ele preferia fazer, pois na época os artistas comparavam o trabalho para editores ao trabalho escravo.
