Portrait of Marten Soolmans — Historia y Análisis
Marten y Oopjen son la única pareja que Rembrandt pintó a tamaño real, de pie y de cuerpo entero. El padre de Marten llegó a Ámsterdam desde Amberes como refugiado protestante. Hizo su fortuna como propietario de una refinería de azúcar.
Marten se casó con Oopjen en 1633. Tenía 20 años y era estudiante de derecho, listo para una carrera en la política. Lamentablemente, murió apenas ocho años después.
