View of the Temple of ‘Juno’ at Paestum — Histoire et analyse
Piranesi est surtout connu pour ses grandes estampes de Rome et de ses environs, destinées à la vente aux touristes. Ce dessin représente un temple grec dans le sud de l'Italie. La composition a été soigneusement pensée avec une succession rythmique de colonnes traversant le plan de l'image en diagonale.
L'accent a été mis sur les effets de lumière et d'ombre ainsi que sur l'effritement irrégulier du marbre. Des bergers avec du bétail créent une atmosphère pastorale.
