Saenredam se especializó en la pintura arquitectónica. Estudió los edificios de cerca, haciendo dibujos detallados de ellos, que luego transformó en pinturas. Aquí eligió un punto de vista desde detrás de un arco, lo que crea un segundo elemento de encuadre.
Nuestra mirada se dirige automáticamente hacia arriba, hacia el viejo órgano, que tiene una escena pintada de la Resurrección de Cristo. Este es un vestigio de la decoración católica que ya había sido abolida desde hace tiempo.
