Saenredam s'est spécialisé dans la peinture architecturale. Il a étudié les bâtiments de près, réalisant des dessins détaillés qu'il a ensuite retravaillés en peintures. Ici, il a choisi un point de vue derrière une arche, créant un deuxième élément de cadrage.
Notre regard est automatiquement attiré vers le vieux orgue, qui présente une scène peinte de la Résurrection du Christ. C'est un vestige de la décoration catholique depuis longtemps abolie.
