Saenredam si specializzò nella pittura architettonica. Studiò da vicino gli edifici, realizzando disegni dettagliati, che poi rielaborò in dipinti. Qui scelse un punto di vista da dietro un arco, che crea un secondo elemento di inquadratura.
Il nostro sguardo è automaticamente attratto verso l'alto, verso il vecchio organo, che presenta una scena dipinta della Resurrezione di Cristo. Questo è un residuo della decorazione cattolica, ormai da tempo abolita.
