Mentre l'uomo ebreo ferito viene sollevato dal suo cavallo, il samaritano che lo ha soccorso sta organizzando il suo alloggio con l'oste nell'apertura della porta. La scena è estremamente finemente incisa e sviluppata pittoricamente con ricche gradazioni tonali. Non è un caso che per questa stampa Rembrandt abbia realizzato un bozzetto a olio preparatorio in cui, incidentalmente, il cane indecoroso in primo piano è assente.
