Questa piccola incisione ritrae un orafo che batte il metallo nel suo laboratorio, con i suoi strumenti a sinistra, un'incudine a destra e un piccolo fuoco nella forgia dietro di lui. Il suo braccio è avvolto teneramente attorno a una statuetta con cui presto dovrà separarsi. La madre, che simboleggia la Carità, tiene i suoi due bambini con altrettanta amorevolezza.
