Italian, 1450–1547
Antonio di Donnino del Mazziere was an Italian painter active during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. He is known for his contributions to the early Renaissance art movement, particularly in the region of Tuscany. Little is documented about his early life, but it is believed he was born in Florence around 1450. He likely received his training in the workshop of a prominent Florentine master, where he developed his skills in painting and fresco techniques. Del Mazziere's career is marked by his work on various religious commissions, including altarpieces and frescoes for churches in Florence and surrounding areas. His style is characterized by a blend of naturalism and the use of vibrant colors, which were hallmarks of the Renaissance period. Some of his notable works include the altarpiece for the Church of San Giovanni and a series of frescoes depicting biblical scenes. Del Mazziere's significance lies in his role in the transition from medieval to Renaissance art, influencing subsequent generations of artists in Italy.
