Bonaventura Peeters the younger

Bonaventura Peeters the Younger was a Flemish painter and engraver, known for his marine and landscape scenes. He was born in 1614 in Antwerp and died in 1652. Peeters was trained in the workshop of his father, Bonaventura Peeters the Elder, who was also a painter. He became a member of the Antwerp Guild of St. Luke in 1632. Throughout his career, Peeters produced numerous works that depicted ships, coastal views, and stormy seas, often infused with dramatic lighting and atmospheric effects. His style is characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a vibrant color palette. Peeters' contributions to the genre of maritime painting have established him as a significant figure in 17th-century Flemish art, influencing later artists in the field.
