Italian, 1370–1427
Gentile da Fabriano (c. 1370–1427) was an Italian painter of the International Gothic style, born in Fabriano and died in Rome. He worked in various places in central Italy, mostly in Tuscany, and his best-known work is the Adoration of the Magi of the Strozzi Altarpiece (1423). His detailed observation of the natural world made him highly influential among painters in Florence.
