Flemish, 1553–1619
Hieronymus Wierix was a Flemish engraver and draughtsman, born in Antwerp in 1553 and a brother of the engravers Johannes and Anton Wierix. Wierix's prints include The Death of Saint Cecilia, a series of portraits of the superiors general of the Jesuit order, and The Nativity (1593). Wierix died in Antwerp on 1 November 1619.
