British, 1860–1908
Sidney Paget (1860–1908) was an English illustrator. From 1891 he illustrated Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories in The Strand Magazine, and his drawings, deerstalker cap included, created the image of Holmes that readers still recognize. His best-known picture shows Holmes and Moriarty struggling at the Reichenbach Falls (1893).
