Vajrasattva | Vairochana — History & Facts

To underscore their importance, gods were sometimes fashioned of gold and silver. Vajrasattva, here in silver, is one of the supreme Buddhist deities. He sits on a lotus throne, dressed in a royal robe.

The heavenly Buddha Vairochana, in gold, holds his hands in bodhyagri mudra, the gesture of wisdom. As in India, such small statues were also probably used for private devotion on Java.
