Isaac Sailmaker was a Dutch-born British painter and etcher who specialized in marine art. He was referred to as "the father of British sea painting" but was overshadowed by contemporaries Willem van de Velde the Elder and Willem van de Velde the Younger. Sailmaker was commissioned by Oliver Cromwell to paint the English fleet at Fort-Mardyck.
