Swedish, 1853–1919
Carl Olof Larsson (1853–1919) was a Swedish painter associated with the Arts and Crafts movement. He worked in oils, watercolors, and frescoes, and became especially known for his watercolors depicting family life. Born in Stockholm to a poor family, he entered the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts at age thirteen. Larsson considered his large painting Midvinterblot, now in the Swedish National Museum of Fine Arts, to be his best work.
