Spring Morning in the Han Palace — History & Facts

The scroll painting shows a palace in a landscape, painted with green and blue pigments. These bright colours create a paradisiacal atmosphere. For a long time this scroll was attributed to the 12th-century painter Zhao Boju, but in fact it is a 17th-century free imitation of his style.

The theme of a Han Palace in a landscape was one of the most popular subjects for such imitations.
