Castiglione trained under the guidance of prominent artists such as Giovanni Battista Paggi and later became associated with the Carracci family in Bologna, where he further developed his artistic style. His career was marked by a diverse output, including religious works, portraits, and landscapes, but he is particularly noted for his etchings, which showcased his mastery of light and shadow. Major works include 'The Virgin and Child' and 'The Holy Family with Saints.'
