Saint Barbara — History & Facts
These three statues come from the monastery of Mariënwater in Koudewater (near ‘s Hertogenbosch). They are attributed to a sculptor who probably worked in the seclusion of the monastery. This would account for the rather old-fashioned, static and expressionless appearance of his work.
