The Triumph of Mordecai — History & Facts

Rembrandt achieved the velvety black tones in this print with drypoint, a technique he had previously never used so extensively. We see the Jewish Mordecai seated on the horse of the Persian king Ahasuerus and garbed in the monarch’s clothing. This was his reward for services rendered.

He is accompanied by Ahasuerus’s vizier Haman, who actually wants to kill all the Jews.
