Lambrequin — History & Facts
The technical virtuosity of this lambrequin – a draped decoration – is simply astonishing. It came from Twickel Castle near Delden (province of Overijssel) and may have served as a lampshade or the decoration the edge of a bed. The room in which the bed stood may have been decorated entirely in chintz as well.
Chintz remained in use in the Netherlands, even at court, throughout the 18th century.
