Spouted jug — History & Facts
The shape of this jug is based on that of pewter examples. This type of jug is represented frequently in paintings by Jan Steen and is thus also called a ‘Jan Steen jug’. This one has an expensive silver lid, proof that stoneware was highly regarded at the time.
