Isaac Weld (1774–1856) was an Anglo-Irish writer, explorer, and artist who travelled widely in North America and was a member of the Royal Dublin Society. Born in Dublin, he visited the United States and Canada, meeting figures such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, and published an account of his travels that was translated into several languages. Weld also spent significant time in Italy, where he befriended Antonio Canova, and later explored parts of Ireland. His observations included commentary on American society and slavery.
