Swiss, 1771–1846
Jakob Samuel Weibel focused on depicting landscapes in the Swiss regions of Bern, Waadt, Wallis, and Savoyen. Trained by Sigmund Freudenberger and working closely with Balthasar Anton Dunker, he produced drawings, engravings, and colored prints, including views of castles and parish houses. Between 1804 and 1817, he spent time in Vevey, and in 1805 he published a drawing manual in Paris. Weibel, a Swiss painter and engraver, created a catalogue of 681 engraved works before his death in Bern in 1846.
