Pierre van de Putte’s Flower Nursery on Schenkweg in The Hague — History & Facts

Vincent van Gogh resolved to become an artist in 1880 and initially practised drawing. In response to a commission from his uncle, the art dealer C.M. van Gogh, he drew a series of cityscapes of The Hague.

The artist did not choose the usual picturesque spots but rather the outskirts of the city, such as here at Schenkweg where he himself lived.
