Rococo Art and Paintings, Page 38

Rococo is a style of art that began in France in the early 1700s, after the death of Louis XIV in 1715, as a light, playful answer to the grandeur of the Baroque. It used pastel colors, curving, asymmetrical forms and subjects of love, leisure and myth, and it was out of fashion by the 1780s. Its painters include Antoine Watteau, François Boucher, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and Thomas Gainsborough.
