Art Nouveau: Posters, Paintings and Prints, Page 13

Art Nouveau, French for “new art,” is an international art movement and style that began in Europe in the 1890s and lasted until the First World War. It is known for sinuous “whiplash” lines and flowing forms taken from plants and flowers, used in posters, illustration, painting, design and architecture alike. Its artists include Alphonse Mucha, Gustav Klimt, Aubrey Beardsley, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Jules Chéret.
